My professional career started as an Assistant Professor in Preventive Medicine at the Univ of Mississippi Med Ctr in Jackson, MS from 1981-1986. My responsibilities there included teaching courses in Biostatistics and Experimental Design to both students and faculty, as well as collaborate on various research studies in Public Health. In 1986 I started a 23 year career at Allstate Insurance in Northbrook, Illinois as their first quantitative analyst in common stock investments and increased my responsibilities to become Head of Investment Strategy for the enterprise with direct Portfolio Management responsibility over the $4Bil Pension Plans. After retirement in 2010, I continued my research in investment decision making and portfolio management. In 2017 I decided to start a public Facebook Group "Make Critical Thinking Great Again" as a response to the election of Donald Trump and the propagation of misinformation and disinformation that had become an endemic characteristic of our social media.
