Darl Champion, Sr.
After teaching for 43 years in higher education, I retired as a Professor Emeritus of Justice Studies. Throughout my academic career, my focus has been on criminal justice and justice administration. Prior to my academic career I served in the U.S. Army for 5 years active duty and 12 years ready reserve as a commissioned officer, serving as a forward observer and military police company commander with the 82nd Airborne Division and as a Special Agent with the U.S. Army Criminal Investigations Command. While in academia, I did pre and post testing of undergraduate and graduate students, and police officers' critical thinking levels It was after attending the 1999 International Conference on Critical Thinking that I became passionate about critical thinking. I have been intrigued by critical thinking and how it relates to interpersonal communications, problem-solving, ethical decision-making, futuring, and leadership. I continue to be interested in critical thinking of college students, both undergraduate and graduate, and police officers.
