Send an email to communityadmin@criticalthinking.org with Critical Thinking Community Key Application in the subject line.
Include in the body of the email which special pricing option you are interested in.
Attach any necessary documentation to prove your occupation. We strongly suggest redacting any sensitive information such as social security numbers and birthdates.

Once your application has been approved, you will receive an email with a personalized key. This key will allow you to complete your purchase of one of the special pricing options listed. Let us know if you need to complete your purchase with a check or purchase order. Please note that subscriptions purchased this way will not automatically renew.

Institutional Memberships

We offer a two-week complementary trial to review our community, for qualifying institutions. Inquire when you email us your application.

All of your students, faculty, or team, can benefit from our institutional memberships. Our community website:

houses the largest critical thinking digital library in the world - including articles, books, audio-visual resources, and research focusing on many aspects of critical thinking. We have a separate library for students, and one for educators.
contains nearly 100 interactive activities where both faculty and students can apply – and therefore internalize – critical thinking concepts and principles. Sections in the Academy include the Wheel of Reason, Reading & Writing Alcove, and Virtuous Virtues (focused on the development of intellectual character). These activities can be included in your instructional design, as students work through them and share their work under your direction.
conducts open webinar Q&A sessions, hosted by our Fellows and Scholars, which include the world’s leading authorities on critical thinking.
offers study groups guided by our Fellows and Scholars, which you and your students may join, as well as study groups you can create.
includes our ConneCT section for connection with others, wherein users can find new connections, engage in discussions, share ideas, and learn together.

How does the membership process work once we purchase the membership?

Whoever purchases the institutional key is designated the institution’s administrator, and that person sets the rules by which the institution’s other users abide. Institutional membership accounts differ from regular accounts in that they can have either full or reduced access to certain portions of the site, depending on the rules set by the institution’s administrator. Additionally, the administrator can add or delete accounts within your institutional membership at will.

We suggest watching this video tutorial to help further understand what the website can offer you and your students, faculty, staff, or team. We are happy to walk you through the process of using the site once you join as an institution.
